Parent Guide, Privacy & Safety
This page explains the stories, parent accounts, purchases, and activities. The app is designed for a grown-up to use with children.
How to use the app
Choose the child’s age range, the time available, and whether you are inside or outside. The app offers a story followed by a simple, parent-led activity. The same stories are available to both age ranges; the “For your child” prompt is adjusted for the selected age.
Using the Adventure Timer
The 5, 10, or 15-minute choice includes both reading and play. The timer counts only the activity portion. Read the story together first, then tap “Start mission” when you are ready to play. Pause, resume, or reset whenever you need to.
- The first star lights up a quarter of the way through, the second halfway through, and the third three quarters of the way through.
- Stars mark time passing; the app does not check a child’s performance or activity steps.
- Tap “We did it!” to celebrate whenever you finish. All three stars light up, even if you finish early.
- When time runs out, you can keep playing and celebrate later. There is no penalty.
- The timer pauses when you switch away from the page. Return and tap “Resume” to continue.
Privacy and grown-up accounts
- The app does not ask for a child’s name, email, birthday, photo, voice recording, or location.
- There are no child accounts or advertising scripts. The parent-access version uses a grown-up’s email and password through Supabase Auth. Supabase stores account information and a purchase-access record so a parent can sign in on another device. Passwords are handled by the authentication service.
- Stripe handles checkout on its own secure page. The app does not collect or store card numbers. Stripe and Supabase process information needed for payments and account access. See Stripe’s privacy policy and Supabase’s privacy policy.
- Account confirmation and password-reset messages are delivered through Resend. Normal sign-in uses your email and password; a new link is not needed every time. See Resend’s privacy policy.
- Saved adventure titles, the last story/page, and preferences are stored in this browser on this device. The app’s own code does not send this saved list to the operator. Authentication also stores session information to keep a grown-up signed in. Clearing browser site data removes local saved progress and may sign you out.
- The app is hosted on OpenAI’s Sites platform. The hosting provider may process technical information needed to operate and protect the website; see OpenAI’s privacy policy.
- The books link opens the separate Books by Christoph website, which has its own privacy practices.
Activity safety
A grown-up should read with the child, choose a suitable activity, and supervise it. Each activity includes a safety note. Adapt or skip anything that does not fit your child, space, weather, or available materials. The activities are ideas for family play, not professional advice or a substitute for supervision.
Purchases and support
The parent-access version offers three free samples and a one-time $4.99 purchase of the current 18-adventure collection. There is no subscription; future collections are not included. The explicitly labeled setup preview uses test payments and does not charge real money.
Try the three free samples before purchasing. Purchases are generally non-refundable once the full collection is unlocked. If you’re charged twice or have a technical problem we cannot resolve, contact us for a refund. This policy does not limit any refund rights required by law.
For support, refund requests, or requests to delete a parent account, email storiesbychristop@gmail.com from the account’s email address. Purchase records may need to be retained for payment and recordkeeping purposes.
